Yoga Chakra: Tradition and Modernity
Lalit Kala Galleries

Curated by Sushma K Bahl & Archana B Sapra

‘Yoga Chakra: Tradition & Modernity’ – a multimedia art exhibition featuring over three hundred selected works of art by about a hundred and fifty artists from across India and beyond – presents a survey of Yoga in the visual arts. The all-encompassing philosophy and life-sustaining practices of Yoga is the focus in these art works sourced from different museums and collections around the country. Some fresh creations by contemporary artists are also included in this exhibition.
The multicultural artistic encounter presents a convergence of visual arts in temple sculptures, devotional icons, illustrated manuscripts, paintings, photographs, books, interactive installations, mixed media, video and digital work, films and audio/video presentations. Classical, traditional, folk, tribal and contemporary works of art are all included. They represent yoga as a continuum across different eras, cultures and continents for meditation and stress-relief.
